At the age of 47, the director returns to her childhood home in Tripoli, where her mother now lives alone, and revisits the silence that followed her rape in 2003 and her mother’s decision to ask her to remain silent. From this intimate history, the film opens onto the director’s body, the city, and encounters with women of different generations and social realities. With a desire to move toward collectivity, a dialogue begins to open — between personal memory, other women’s experiences, and the stories and imaginaries surrounding women in the city. Through these encounters, the film explores how silence is produced and transmitted, and what may allow women to speak, desire, refuse and act.
