Filmed in real time in 2015, What Remains follows a young Syrian family as they flee across Europe. Eleven years later, the film focuses on the family’s life in Germany to explore how displacement endures through memory and identity, and how it manifests in the life of a daughter who is growing up between an inherited past that was shaped by conflict and a stable present.
