The project presents a reinterpretation and retelling of religious and historical texts through the lens of the present and the current political moment—starting from the genocidal war and the continuous Zionist aggression on the entire region, to the artist’s memories as a child during the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the sectarian war, and the preceding international sanctions, passing through the Arab Spring, counter-revolutions, and military tyranny. This collection is part of the broader, ongoing The Flood series, which he began working on in 2021, comprising a collection of oil paintings, watercolor sketches, printmaking, engravings, and traditional Japanese painting (Nihonga).
