Ali Yas is an artist working in the fields of painting, photography, and cinema. His work explores the entanglements of personal and collective memory, tracing how it fractures, persists, and returns. Inspired by literature and theology, his practice addresses contested landscapes, grief, and militant histories. These themes are manifested through fictional and surreal forms that blur the line between testimony and imagination, often infused with humor and sarcasm. He received his Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the University of Jordan in 2015. He has studied in Amman, Berlin, and Tokyo, and contributed to organizing the Darat al Funun archive. His work has been exhibited internationally in Amman, Berlin, New York, Amsterdam, and Abu Dhabi. He also studied at the Berlin University of the Arts and Tama Art University in Tokyo, specializing in Japanese painting (Nihonga).
