Souad’s Party is a realistic yet surreal play set in an impromptu gathering of a group of Syrians and a Lebanese person at a home in Damascus, at a time before the fall of the Assad regime. As they drink, their hidden secrets come to light and the evening turns into a space for confrontation — with themselves and with each other. Through moments of tension, confessions and humor, the play captures their struggles with society and the regime.
