But My Heart: The 21st-Century Mutanabbi

The project is an attempt to engage with heritage from a contemporary literary standpoint, based on the “translation” of selected verses from Al-Mutanabbi’s collection of poems into prose verses that represent a new (and subjective) equivalent to the literary energy conveyed by these verses.
The project seeks to provide a timely and relevant vision of the contemporary literary practice of Al-Mutanabbi's poetic legacy in the context of bridging the chronic rift between writing and reading today, and the heritage of Arabic literature in its renaissance eras. The book consists of a series of interconnected prose poems, in addition to critical articles written in a fluid format, thereby also representing a contemporary "explanation" of Al-Mutanabbi’s collection of poems.
