Bassem Yousri

Bassem Yousri is an Egyptian visual artist, filmmaker, and art educator based between Cairo and Berlin. Bassem’s work combines mixed-media installations, experimental film, and documentary film to critique societal stereotypes and taboos. His projects often focus on the individual experience, providing commentary on the social politics of contemporary Egypt. He explores the relationship between form and representation in exhibition and public spaces. Bassem’s work has been exhibited globally, including at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, and Sharjah Art Foundation in the UAE. Bassem holds an MFA from Philadelphia’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture and a BFA from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University.
