Abdelwahab Shawky is an Egyptian director who began his career in critical writing. His entrance into filmmaking began with cinema activities and workshops, before moving on to work on sets as an assistant director.

Over the past ten years, he has worked alongside prominent directors Khaled Marei and Hatem Ali. He served as first assistant director on Sudanese director Amjad Abu Alala’s film You Will Die at Twenty (2019), which won the Lion of the Future Award for Best Debut Feature at the Venice Film Festival. He worked in the same capacity on director Yousry Nasrallah’s television series Menawara Be Ahlaha (2022). In 2024, he directed his first short film, The Last Miracles, which screened in the short film competition at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival.
