Amine Kabbes

Algeria
Amine Kabbes studied electronic engineering before fully dedicating himself to cinema, training on the ground as an assistant director in both documentary and fiction. He began directing music videos, drawn to the energy of music and artists. He then explored documentary filmmaking in the Laboratoire Documentaires d’Alger, through which he directed and premiered his film, Nweli (2016), and at La Fémis’s Summer University program where he directed L’Autre Mohamed Ali (2017). In 2019, he made his first feature, Le Dernier Camarade (2023), an immersive cinéma vérité project still censored in Algeria today. His second feature, Today Is the End, But the End Isn’t Here Yet, blends observation and narrative, giving voice to memory, exile, and Algeria’s silenced stories with a cinematic approach.
