Helomur Picture

Sudan

Helomur Picture is a Sudanese production company founded in 2024 by filmmaker and scientist Rua Osman. Dedicated to archiving, cultural storytelling and creative documentation, Helomur produces films and media projects that respond to Sudan's shifting social and political landscapes, with a particular emphasis on collective memory and heritage preservation. The company operates at the intersection of art, research and advocacy, building platforms that give voice to marginalized communities and that preserve Sudan's rich yet endangered cultural fabric.

Since the outbreak of war in Sudan, Helomur has focused its efforts on digital preservation and emergency cultural documentation. The company leads the Virtual Khartoum City initiative, a long-term project mapping and archiving public spaces of historical and social significance through digital storytelling tools. This work builds on Helomur's unique model: combining on-the-ground teams in Sudan with a post-production and creative network abroad, allowing it to adapt to the current crisis while remaining rooted in the local context. Helomur's projects are developed in close collaboration with Sudanese artists, researchers and communities and have received support from international partners in the fields of culture, heritage and development.
