Hichem Merouche is an artist born in Tunis in 1991 who lives in Algeria and Greece. Driven by multilingual research, his practice integrates film, sound, transformed objects, photography and writing to probe emotionally and politically charged narratives and objects. Hichem’s first solo exhibition, Friendly Islands, opened in rhizome (2023). His work has been presented in: En Attendant Omar Gatlato: Epilogue shown at Le Magasin, Grenoble (2023); Archives des luttes de femmes en Algérie as part of Documenta 15, Kassel (2022); the Publishing Maneuvers Symposium at 421 Arts Campus, Abu Dhabi (2020) and FIDMarseille, France (2018).
