Emilien Awada is a cinematographer and director. He studied film and audiovisual arts at Sorbonne Nouvelle University and Paris 8 and trained in directing and cinematography at La Fémis. During his studies, he directed several commissioned films for television and cultural institutions, including Les Visages de Solitude (2013) for TV Nantes and L’Ombre et L’image (2015) for the Société des Amis des Musées d’Orléans. Since 2014, Emilien has collaborated with artists and filmmakers on documentaries, artist films and installations. He co-directed the short films and multimedia installation series Panoramis Paramount Paranormal with Constanze Ruhm, presented at the Transmediale 2017. Emilien also has worked as a cinematographer on several documentaries including Adrien Genoudet’s Quinzaine Claire (2016), which was screened at Visions du Réel (Switzerland, 2016), and Isabelle Rèbre’s Pollock & Pollock (2021). Since 2018, he has led workshops on documentary filmmaking and cinematography at Paris 8, Paris 1, Artagon and the Documentary School in Lussas.
