Urbegony (“urb-”: city and “-gony”: generation) was founded in 2015 as a digital educational platform for architecture students in Syria, particularly in Damascus and other cities, amid an environment altered by political and social crises. Created in response to the urgent need to rethink architectural and urban planning education, it offers methods rooted in lived experience rather than inherited models. Through learning experiences and extra-curricular projects, Urbegony equips students with the tools of architectural expression that enable them to document, analyze, and interpret the neighborhoods they know, cultivating both critical and creative practice.
