Ilona Danho

Syria
Ilona Danho studied at the High Institute of Music in Damascus, Syria. She joined the National Conservatory of Lyon in France to develop her percussion skill under the supervision of professor Jean-Luck Rimey Mille. She holds a bachelor’s degree and a master's degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Belgium. She undertook a world tour with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under the conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim. Ilona is an Oriental singer who performs both Arabic music and Syriac folk music. As a vocal soloist, she performed The Syrian Rhapsody in Expo Dubai 2022 with the composer Iyad Al Rimawi. Ilona founded the music group Mesopotamian Fusion in Stockholm in 2019, which plays ancient Syriac music to preserve Assyrian heritage by reviving and modernizing ancient Assyrian songs.
