Geographies of Loss: The Life of an Ordinary Man in Extraordinary Times

Rim Benrjeb  |  Creative and Critical Writings  |  2026  |  Tunisia
This book traces the experience of loss and its personal and political repercussions, through combining memoir and critical feminist reflection. The author begins with the illness and death of her father, tracing the life of an ordinary man who moved quietly through the world, and of a football player once carried on shoulders in celebration before gradually disappearing from the scene. The project maps loss across the home, the city, and the hospital, exploring the parent-child relationship alongside questions of memory and absence.
