The Yemeni Audio Index aims to preserve and protect Yemeni music from loss and intellectual and artistic theft, as well as provide a platform through its digital index that allows users to add recordings and description details. In its first period, the project covers songs from the period from 1935-1990. It is meant to serve as an alternative to the lack of public libraries and academic and national archives. It does this in a way that preserves intellectual property rights and fair usage of archival materials in a manner that’s easy to search and filter for students, researchers and others who might be interested.
