1000 Socialist Villages is an exhibition of the works of Massinissa Selmani based on extensive research around the 1000 Socialist Villages project, an Algerian urban planning initiative in the 1960s and 1970s. The project will be shown at Rhizome Gallery in Algiers in late 2023. It aims to represent a particular period in recent Algerian history, but in a rhizomatic manner, by illuminating a tenuous memory of Algerian Socialism.
