The Day of the Monkey Rumpus

Ayman AL Zorkany  |  Creative and Critical Writings  |  2019  |  Egypt
An illustrated story inspired by the literature of Najib Mahfouz, its narrative begins with an incident that took place during the 1919 Revolution on the fringes of a neighborhood in Cairo, when two beggars, both blind, entered into an argument. Events escalate and gradually come to shape the legend of the neighborhood. An interactive exhibition of the related drawings and figures will be held alongside the book launch, allowing the audience to come up with a subjective reading of the origin of the legend in question.
