In the penal colony of Franz Kafka tells the story of an explorer that arrives to an isolated colony where he is a witness to a brutal justice procedure. This procedure is the costume in the penal colony and is used to punish condemned prisoners. This nightmarish novella is a complex statement about the relativity of justice and about the relationship between power and its ability to corrupt human compassion; it reviles the danger of fanaticism and blind belief of self-justification.
