Five AFAC-supported Films at Cannes 2022

Five AFAC-supported films will compete in different sections of the Cannes International Film Festival, which will be celebrating its 75th edition in May 2022.

Premiering in the Un Certain Regard section are “Mediterranean Fever” by Palestinian filmmaker Maha Haj, and “Harka” by Egyptian film director Lotfy Nathan.

Lebanese director Ali Cherri’s film “The Dam” will also premiere in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs (Director’s Fortnight) section.

Selected in the L’Atelier co-production forum section are “Hamlet from the Slums” by Egyptian filmmaker Ahmed Fawzi Saleh, and “The Blind Ferryman” by Iraqi filmmaker Ali Al-Fatlawi.

Scores of other Arab films are taking part in the Festival as well. In the Cannes Official Competition, is “Boy from Heaven” by Tarik Saleh (Egypt); in Cannes Premiere: “Nos Frangins” by Rachid Bouchareb (Algeria); in the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs: two Tunisian films, “Ashkal” by Youssef Chebbi, and “Under the Fig Trees” by Erige Sehiri; in Midnight Screenings: “Rebel” by Adil El Arbi and Bilal Fallah (Morocco).
