The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture – AFAC has opened the call for submissions to its Training and Regional Events grant program for 2021, following an exceptional cancelation of this grant in 2020. Applications will be received until August 16, 2021 by 5pm Beirut time (GMT + 3).
The global health crisis had halted our daily lives, propelled us to think differently, and adapt our processes and programs accordingly. As part of our adaptive measures, we decided to exceptionally cancel the Training and Regional Events grant program in 2020, and its funds were transferred to AFAC’s emergency support schemes, considering that this grant mainly supports festivals, forums and workshops, most of which were canceled or postponed under the prevailing circumstances.
The AFAC team never ceased however to avidly listen to the sector, and realized, through our exchanges with practitioners and institutions, the continuous struggle and determination of the sector to find alternative ways to address the various challenges at hand.
We firmly believe that interesting and inspirational tools will transpire from this reality. We encourage, in the present round of the Training and Regional Events call, projects that address this reality through alternative, creative ways that engage critically with the medium, challenge the current circumstances, and build on observations and knowledge as to how to continue to produce and be impactful and efficient with the little available resources.
Applications are to be submitted exclusively online, via the AFAC website. Application forms and submission guidelines have been updated for a swifter application process. To apply, please log-in with your username and password. After you log in, visit the program page to access the applications. If you do not have an existing account, you can register here.
You will not be able to submit your applications once the deadline (16 August 2021, 5 pm Beirut time) has passed. Applications sent via email will not be considered eligible.
