Founded in 2014, Mergraya For Training and Arts Development has worked to enrich the art and cultural scene in Upper Egypt by fostering greater independence from the cultural dominance of Cairo and by promoting the sharing of experiences. Operating specifically in the north and center of Upper Egypt, Megraya aims to provide safe spaces for training, to showcase work, and to encourage youth cultural and artistic production. Adhering to principles of cultural and artistic justice, the initiative aims to see art taken up as a way of addressing local social and cultural issues.

Megraya is dedicated to nurturing talented artists, creating artistic platforms and programs and developing training curricula and manuals.
