Salih Basheer

Salih Basheer is a self-taught Sudanese photographer born in 1995 in Omdurman. He moved to Egypt in 2013 and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Geography from Cairo University in 2017, before travelling to Denmark to study photojournalism.
In 2021, Salih received the W. Eugene Smith Memorial Fund Grant for Student Photographers and Everyday Projects Grant, for his project 22 Days in Between. The book, published in 2023, won Salih the Photo-Text Book Award from Les Rencontres d'Arles in the same year.
Salih was recognized as one of 15 upcoming photographers by the British Journal of Photography in 2022, and he joined Magnum Photos as a nominee in 2024.
