Images de l'Orient seeks to promote cultural and heritage activities in Lebanon and the Arab world by organizing activities and publishing websites and print media. It was established in Lebanon alongside the Arab revolutions and the wars that followed, particularly the war in Syria. The institution works across a range of social issues, including culture and the arts, documentation and archiving, art therapy and media. Among its most important projects is Creative Memory of the Syrian Revolution (creativememory.org) which documents the creative output of communities inside Syria and across the diaspora. Through this project, the institution has been able to serve as a link between artists and cultural-artistic and media organizations. The institution also runs the Syrian Official Gazette archive project, odd.syria-report.com, and the media project syrianobserver.com.
