Abdullah Miniawy is an Egyptian writer, singer, composer, 3D generalist and actor. He has performed at the Louvre, Philharmonie de Paris, the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London, and Festival d’Avignon, and has composed work commissioned by MoMA PS1 and Hotel Pro Forma.
A Victoires du Jazz prize winner for his 2023 album Le Cri du Caire, Abdullah has collaborated with artists like Swiss jazz trumpeter Erik Truffaz and Palestinian musician and singer Kamilya Jubran. His work with the German trio Carl Gari earned praise from NPR and Pitchfork. He also starred in the film Tlamess, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019.
Abdullah was named a "change maker” by the EU Parliament in 2021 for his work exploring digital futures for artists.
His poetry became a touchstone for some revolutionaries during the Arab Spring. His debut collection of stories, Extinguishing the City of Light, was released in 2022.
