Harvest Festival Marrakech (HFM) takes place in parallel with agricultural harvesting times of spring and autumn. The harvesting season is explored as a metaphor for collective growth and exchange, and a time-honored ancestral practice of abundance and celebration. The focus is on the transmission of ancestral landscapes and environmental practices to address the urgent challenges facing social, cultural, and communal ecosystems. The festival is currently nomadic: it collaborates with community partners in Marrakech and the High Atlas region to host cultural events, including film screenings, participatory workshops, discursive gatherings, exhibitions, community markets, concerts, and field trips. It aims to build connections between rural High Atlas communities and urban Marrakech residents, while also expanding these links to translocal networks. HFM was launched in late 2021 as a community initiative led by the Global Diversity Foundation and others working in Marrakech. Since its inception, the festival has evolved into an independent, place-based program shaped by ongoing collaboration with communities across Marrakech and the High Atlas.

Over time, HFM has developed a distinct curatorial vision and cultural programming focus, working with practitioners who remain accountable to the communities and landscapes from which they emerge, creating spaces to engage with urgent socio-ecological questions. The festival is currently in the process of formalizing as an independent association, reflecting its evolution as a long-term responsive cultural program that holds a responsibility to the communities it nurtures.
