Joëlle Abou Chabké

Joëlle Abou Chabké is a Lebanese filmmaker, cinematographer, and professor at the American University of Beirut. She received a master of arts in cinema directing from ALBA-Balamand University in 2012, and another in creative documentary from Paris 7 Diderot in 2018. Her short film Snake Hill (2024) screened at international festivals and won Best Documentary at the Lebanese Film Harvest 2025 and the Audience Award in the Mediterranean Short category at PriMed Festival 2025.

Her second film, Pas de Ports pour les Petits Bateaux (2017), received the Tanit d’Argent at Tunis’s JCC and Best International Short Documentary at Cinéma sous les Étoiles Canada. She recently directed Victims and Heroes (2023-2024), a 12-episode documentary series for Al Jazeera 360 which won the Silver Telly Award in 2025.
