Amina Menia is an Algerian visual artist who works in sculpture, photography, and installation art. Her work explores the intersections of memory, local history, urban space and architecture. Through sculpture, photography and installation, her architectural interventions invite a reconsideration of how public space is produced. Often departing from the post-colonial history and politics of her native Algiers, she investigates charged narratives, revisits urban legends and reveals the political potential hidden within urban gaps and voids.

Her work has been presented in major institutions, including the Palais de Tokyo and Centre Pompidou, Paris, New Museum, New York, Museum of Contemporary Art and MuCEM, Marseille, Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin; Museum of African Design, Johannesburg. Her works are part of numerous public collections.
