Marah Sharabati

Marah Sharabati is an architect and urban researcher working at the intersection of architectural and urban spatial studies, and critical visual design practices. She works as an urban researcher at the IW Syria-Spain Lab and is a member of the Syrian Urban Youth Network, in addition to being involved in several urban practices in the region. In her practice, she seeks to search for the roots of problems and address them, employing tools such as empathy and critical thinking, in addition to adopting a holistic approach to understanding the cases she works on. She advocates in her practice for the critique of capitalist, imperialist, and modernist systems. She is also currently completing a Master's degree in Regional Development and Planning at the Higher Institute for Regional Planning at Damascus University, where she studies the relationship between capitalist economic systems and the production of urbanism in the Arab region.
