The Kamal Boullata Foundation Archive Project is a critical endeavor to preserve, describe, and celebrate the legacy of Kamal Boullata, by cataloging and digitizing his papers, artworks and archives and making them accessible to researchers, artists and activists across the world. Kamal Boullata actively contributed to Palestinian and Arab cultural heritage, building on long-standing cultural and artistic practices and outlooks, and reinforcing resilience, identity, and solidarity through his multi-faceted work. Now, more than ever before, it is of paramount importance to safeguard his lifetime contributions to art and culture in order to counter mounting erasure, counter-narratives and restrictions on Palestinians, and to keep his legacy and humanistic message vibrant in our collective consciousness.

The Archive Project started in 2025, and it represents an important testament of Boullata’s lifelong work, but it also serves as a witness to an important historical era.
