Established in 2017 as an independent media platform, El Maraya for Culture and Arts produces diverse cultural, literary, and artistic content and organizes multiple activities, including workshops, panels, and events. The target was to set up a cultural platform that is rooted in the support of human rights, opposes all forms of discrimination, and aims to pave the way for setting a new integrated long-term vision of the movement for change and democratic transformation in Egypt.

Among these, Maraya Magazine was able, within its limits and the surrounding conditions, to open a significant space for different cultural visions and discussions, particularly among the young educated generation. With the legacy and experience of 25 periodicals in print, issued over 4 years (2017-2021), Maraya was reissued as a digital cultural magazine. The proposed digital platform will not publish daily news, reports, and follow-ups, but will rather be primarily concerned with producing content related to political, social, economic, historical, and humanitarian issues, as well as topics related to literature, arts, and the general cultural scene. It will be a cultural platform that presents serious issues in a simple and attractive way to young audiences with liberal ideas.
