Project ʘ

Lebanon

Project ʘ approaches economic journalism as a political act, challenging the dominant current and its banalized economics. It seeks to be an additional voice alongside the exploited and against the exploiters, and an open space for new, different and bold ideas, positions and approaches.

The project aims to fill the gap left by mainstream media, which often fails to provide critical, accessible socio-economic journalism in Arabic. Dominant platforms tend to reinforce elite interests and promote austerity as an unquestionable solution, separating economic issues from their social, political, and gender dimensions and reducing them to matters reserved for experts. The platform’s goal is to produce independent economic and social journalism rooted in people’s lived realities, questioning dominant narratives and reflecting the diversity of social perspectives and proposed alternatives. Project ʘ’s approach is grounded in the economic triad of land, labor, and capital.

It seeks to democratize access to economic information by overcoming linguistic barriers, strengthening understanding and enhancing people’s collective ability to use knowledge in shaping public policy and institutions. Through systematic research, editorial work and collaboration with experts, the project organizes and publishes reliable economic information in Arabic, using text, visual media, data, audio and video to make the dynamics of land, labor and capital understandable, accountable and politically actionable.
