Line 30

Lebanon
Line 30 is an online publishing platform launched in December 2020. It takes its name from the 30th parallel, which works across the Arabic-speaking countries from the Levant to the Maghreb. It seeks to speak to the people of these countries by conveying their stories and everyday language. Through a sensory and interactive approach, it serves as a reminder that journalism is also a cultural practice whose outputs can be works of art. At the heart of its vision is a belief in the ability of art to influence reality in ways that enable us to engage with it and even transform it. Line 30 seeks to engage with different parts of the Arab world through content produced in a variety of forms. It is also experimenting with and developing different visual, audio, and textual languages, turning the processes of editing and publishing into creative labs for producing memorable content. The platform works with young talent and emerging artists from across the region, providing them with opportunities to tell stories and space to refine their practices. It also contributes to a comprehensive, vivid, and accurate documentation of life in the region that gives readers space for reflection and collective thought.
