Momentum for Contemporary Culture (ZAKHAM) is a non-governmental organization and open platform for contemporary culture in Tunisia, combining local roots with an international outlook to foster creative exchange across disciplines and generations. It was founded in 2024 as a joint platform for projects initiated by Aymen Gharbi and Bettina Pelz since 2015 — such as INTERFERENCE in the Medina of Tunis and SEE DJERBA in Houmt Souk — as well as artist and curator learning programs like TASAWAR curational studios and MOMENTUM CURATORIAL. ZAKHAM has evolved through various legal structures, building a broad local and international community while providing training and professional development opportunities. It continues today with a vision that supports democratic culture, contemporary practices and heritage preservation.
