Areej Ashhab

Palestine
Areej Ashhab is a Palestinian artist and researcher whose work focuses on material heritage loss, ecological knowledge and land-based pedagogies. Moving between material experimentation, writing and film, her practice often unfolds collectively through workshops, walks and shared meals. She co-founded Al-Wah'at, a translocal collective countering anthropocentric and colonial narratives around arid lands and futures. She holds an MA from the Centre for Research Architecture and was a 2025 resident at the Jan van Eyck Academie with Al-Wah'at. Areej's work has been presented at de Appel, Jan van Eyck, Wonder Cabinet and the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature. She has taught at the Royal College of Art and the Arab American University.
