Mohamed Oubenal is a tenured researcher in sociology at the Institut Royal de la Culture Amazighe (IRCAM) in Morocco. He holds a PhD in sociology from Paris-Dauphine University. His research interests include economic sociology and the transformations of Amazigh culture in urban and rural areas. Mohamed is a member of the editorial board of the academic journals Asinag and Critical Sociology. He also works at the intersection between art and research, translating his research work on Amazigh music in Casablanca into artistic formats such as exhibitions and storytelling performances. Additionally, he initiated the introduction of teaching traditional Amazigh instruments like the Ribab at the Zefzaf's Conservatory of Music in Casablanca.
