Youssef Ramez Boktor

Youssef Ramez Boktor has been the founder and caretaker of Hajmoulein eco-community farm since 2016 and is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at CUNY, researching cultural and ecological transformations in Siwa Oasis and the challenges facing Egypt’s only Amazigh group. He previously earned the Magda Al Nowaihi Award at AUC for his MA thesis on masculinity in Egypt. Youssef has extensive civil society experience, serving as executive director of the Jesuit Culture Center and managing cultural and social justice projects, including founding arts schools. He also worked as a media consultant for Human Rights Watch and as a journalist and editor, authoring several books in Arabic.
