Mohammed Subhi is an Iraqi artist who tells stories through comics, illustrations and zines. Much of his work takes up subjects related to body image, queer identity and the parts of heritage that don't usually make it into the spotlight. He has worked with Oxfam and the Goethe-Institute on projects around sexual and reproductive health, and he believes art should stir something, whether it's a memory, a question, or the courage to speak up. Hailing from Diyala in northeastern Iraq has prompted Mohammed to use art to hold space for voices that are often pushed to the side.
