Laila Mahmoud is a qanun player, vocalist, composer and transcultural music educator. She studied music education in Homs (2008-2014) and earned a BA in world music from the Pop Academy in Mannheim (2017-2022). She works across Arabic and Turkish classical music, Western classical, jazz, ethno-jazz, blues and rock.

Since 2017, she has performed across Germany with a range of ensembles, including Syreal, Vigo, Synkope, Ogaro Ensemble, the Rhein-Pfalz Philharmonic, Ornina and Trickster Orchestra. Her practice is informed from a belief in a musical world rooted in openness and creative freedom.
