Amal Kaawash

Palestine
Amal Kaawash is a multidisciplinary artist, songwriter and singer born in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon. She studied Oriental singing techniques in Beirut and has collaborated with musicians from Lebanon, Denmark, Egypt and Italy. In her performances, Amal blends storytelling and musical composition, exploring the relationship between voice and memory — especially within contexts of migration and exile. She is interested in the traditional songs of the Levant, particularly Palestinian songs, viewing them as creative documentation of history, which she reinterprets through research and live performance. In her own compositions, she focuses on everyday details and personal experiences, combining traditional and experimental elements in her melodies. She has experience in ventriloquism and is currently developing solo performances that include storytelling, live singing and puppetry. She holds degrees in biology and fine arts.
