Ihab Shgadl

Ihab Shgadl is an Iraqi writer and journalist, born in Baghdad in 1992. He holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Mustansiriyah University. He has worked in cultural and journalistic content production with Arab and local outlets and platforms such as Raseef22, Ultra Sawt, 7al Net and the Network of Iraqi Reporters for Investigative Journalism (NIRIJ). He earned a diploma in fact-checking from ARIJ and studied at the Counter Academy for Arab Journalism. As a poet, he published his collection 144 m² in 2019, and his poems have been translated into English, Farsi and Italian. He published literary texts and essays, conducted interviews with cultural figures and participated in literary festivals in Iraq and the Arab world. Ihab is a co-founder of Masqa magazine and is the author of a forthcoming poetry collection. He has been a member of the Iraqi Writers’ Union since 2014.
