Ali Albazzaz is an Iraqi-Dutch poet, writer, visual artist and journalist who has lived in Amsterdam since 1997. His articles and studies on literature, cinema and the arts have appeared in Arab magazines and newspapers such as Nizwa, An-Nahar, As-Safir, Al-Hayat, Al-Sabah and Al-Itthad, as well as in the Dutch and Belgian press.
He has released several poetry collections and critical works, including Some Will Last Like Countries (2009), Ne traverse pas l’aube en marginal (Don’t cross the dawn on the margins, 2021), and Le livre du célibataire (The bachelor’s book, 2023) in Arabic and French. He has held exhibitions across the Arab world and internationally, with his works displayed at the National Museum of American-Eurasian Art and Culture in Washington, D.C.
Ali has worked in journalism and media, contributing to the development of television programs and film scripts. These include A Static Life (in Dutch), produced by the Netherlands’ NPO3 in 2004, and Nasiriyah, City of Ibrahim, which he wrote in Arabic and Dutch.
