Raed Rafei

Raed Rafei is a Lebanese filmmaker, scholar, and multimedia journalist. His films explore themes of queerness and political and social solidarity and his research focuses on queer cinema in the Arab region and its diasporas. As a journalist, he has worked for international publications like The Los Angeles Times and news outlets like CNN and Al-Jazeera Documentary Channel. Rafei holds a PhD in Film and Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MA in Journalism from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York. Rafei is currently a research postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Davis, and resides between San Francisco and Tripoli Lebanon.
