Corine Shawi is a Lebanese filmmaker whose career began at 14 when she started filming her first feature-length documentary, Les Femmes Bonnes (2006). Her films explore the bonds and boundaries of human relationships and their psychological dimensions: Oxygen (2007), Affinity (2007), and Film of Welcome and Farewells (2009), which opened the Écrans du Réel festival in Lebanon. I Love You Forever (2010) debuted at CPH:DOX, while E Muet (2013) premiered in the International Competition at FIDMarseille. Her latest documentary, Perhaps What I Fear Does Not Exist (2022), follows a four-year journey toward absolution within a broken family while accompanying her father's recovery after his sudden hospitalization due to paralysis. The film premiered in international competition at DOK Leipzig and won the Best Documentary Feature Award at Cinema Columbus Film Festival.
