YAZAN is a non-for-profit association officially co-founded in Lebanon in 2018 by Caroline Hatem, Kinda Hassan and Walid Abdelnour and bringing together artists, cultural managers, practitioners and producers interested in engaging in multidisciplinary artistic practices, while not having access to mainstream modes of production.     YAZAN attempts at creating production opportunities and possibilities and its artists and practitioners work in the fields of performing arts, including dance, theatre and music, documentary and fiction films, visual arts, writing as well as education and pedagogical activities.     YAZAN received a grant from AFAC in 2018 for its intensive acting training program YPAT with international faculty Susan Worsfold (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and Emilie Incerti (TNS, France).    The YAZAN Workshop Series offer free or very affordable training by exceptional artists: Laure Dupont (contemporary dance, with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Lebanon), Yumiko Yoshioka (Buto) and Dana Mikhael (Physical Theatre).      YAZAN projects include videos (IDLE BY THE SEA by Kinda Hassan, AFAC grantee 2018, THE CROSSING by Walid Abdelnour, 2019), performances (LE CRITERE DE GRIFFITH, directed by Danielle Labaky, 2015, presenting LA BA, by and with Laure Dupont, KED Beirut, 2017) and the play AL BEYT, directed by Caroline Hatem (AFAC grantee, 2017-2018).
