Al Badil

Tunisia
Al Badil - The Cultural Alternative is a Tunisian nonprofit organization that has been active since 2013 and is committed to democratizing access to arts and culture throughout the country. The organization works both to expand cultural offerings in the peripheries and to support artists and young cultural practitioners in professionalizing and bringing their projects to fruition, with a particular focus on performing arts and contemporary dance. Since its formal establishment in 2017, Al Badil has trained more than 120 youth from the country’s 24 governorates in cultural management, mentored numerous artists, and actively contributed to promoting Tunisia’s performing arts scene, both nationally and internationally. Through its festivals, particularly those dedicated to contemporary dance, its artist residencies, and its training programs, the association contributes to the development and structuring of this still-emerging sector in Tunisia. Furthermore, Al Badil carries out initiatives in arts education, cultural outreach, and project support, particularly for young people aged 8 to 30 who have limited access to culture. Through its initiatives, the association has established itself as a recognized player in Tunisia’s cultural landscape, working to make culture more accessible, inclusive, and sustainable, while promoting the professional integration of youth in the arts, especially performing arts.
