Doaa Nasr is a freelance photographer and visual storyteller from Manflout, Asyut, Upper Egypt.

Inspired by the photographs her father took of her during childhood, she holds these memories dear and finds solace in photography during difficult times. 2011 changed everything. While Egypt was shaking, she picked up a camera. It gave her strength and a sense of freedom she hadn’t known before.

She works as a technology specialist in a primary school, a job that keeps her close to her tools and her practice. Over the years she has developed her craft steadily, with work shown in exhibitions locally. In 2016 she placed third in the Nikon Photography Contest. She is a member of the African Photojournalism Database (APJD) and Women Photograph.

Her work focuses on people and their stories, especially women. In Upper Egypt, photojournalism is a challenging work for a woman. Doaa engages in it despite it all.
