Rita Mahfouz  is a visual artist with a background in film. She received a BA and a maîtrise in Film Studies from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in 2008 and 2006, respectively. She received an MA in Visual Arts from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (Alba), University of Balamand in 2018 and is currently pursuing a PhD in Humanities and Creative Writing at the Hong Kong Baptist University. She has worked as a video editor since 2006. In 2018, she started to create lens-based artworks and has since shown her work in a number of local and international film festivals — the Lebanese Film Festival, Sharjah Film Platform,; the Arquiteturas Film Festival, RPM Fest, VAFA, VideoBardo,) and art exhibitions —Beirut Art Center, Sursock Museum, CICA Museum. Rita  has taught video editing and video-making courses at three Lebanese universities: the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (Alba), Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and Antonine University.
