Morocco
Born in Marrakesh in 1975, Taoufiq Izeddiou originally studied architecture, but in 1995, he discovered his passion for contemporary dance. He became familiar with the discipline in Morocco. His mentor, Bernardo Montet, opened the doors of the professional world to him by casting him in productions at the National Choreographic Center of Tours. In 2001, he founded Anania, the first contemporary dance company in Morocco and launched the first training program in contemporary dance, which will, 14 years later, be included in the curriculum of the first school of choreographic arts in Morocco, Nafass, which Izeddiou initiated. In 2005, he created the first international contemporary dance festival in Morocco, On Marche. In 2021, he was awarded the French Medal of the Knight of Arts and Letters for the 15th edition of the festival.
