Part archival project, part storytelling and part community engagement, "Re-imagining Return to the Marshes" asks the question: can histories be colonized even in one’s imagination? In exploring both historic and contemporary visual representations of the Iraqi Marshes and its people, the artist employs a critical intervention into “Return to the Marshes” by Young and Wheeler (1979) and imagines new ways of storytelling through photography.
